Why do I see distorted fonts in the Quartus II software version 9.1 Web Edition for Linux?

Description

You may see font distortion in the Quartus® II software version 9.1 Web Edition on a Linux operating system when using a remote access client (VNC, XWindows). This problem occurs when the remote access software does not have the X Rendering (XRender) extension.

To avoid this problem, invoke the Quartus II software with the anti-aliasing feature enabled using the following command:

quartus --internal_anti_aliasing

The anti-aliasing feature may cause reduced GUI performance.
