Why does the installation of the ACDS version 10.1 or the Modelsim-Altera software version 6.6c leave extra files on my hard drive?

Due to a problem with the Microsoft installer, installing the ModelSim-Altera software version 6.6c or the Altera Complete Design Suite version 10.1 leaves behind a number of files on your hard drive. These files are:

• eula.<numbers>.txt
• globdata.ini
• install.exe
• install.ini
• install.res.<numbers>.dll

The files left on your hard drive are Microsoft VC8 redistributable files from the Modelsim-Altera software installation. These files are required during Modelsim-Altera software installation. These files are safe to delete after the installation is complete.
