Explore Cyclone® V GT FPGAs
Cyclone V GT FPGAs deliver a low-cost, low-power solution for applications requiring transceivers up to 6.144 Gbps, combining flexible logic, DSP resources, embedded memory, and hard IP. Built on 28 nm low-power process technology, they support high-bandwidth applications in wireline, broadcast and Pro AV, and test and measurement systems.
Key Features
| Internal memory blocks | M10K: 10-kilobits (Kb) memory blocks with soft error correction code (ECC). Memory logic array block (MLAB): 640-bit distributed LUTRAM where you can use up to 25% of the ALMs as MLAB memory. |
| General-purpose I/Os | 875 megabits per second (Mbps) low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) receiver and 840 Mbps LVDS transmitter. 400 MHz/800 Mbps external memory interface. On-chip termination (OCT). 3.3 V support with up to 16 mA drive strength. |
| Embedded hard IP blocks | Embedded internal coefficient memory, and adder/subtractor for improved efficiency. Memory controller: DDR3, DDR2, and LPDDR2 with 16 and 32-bit ECC support. |
| Low-power serial transceivers | Cyclone V GT devices deliver low-power 6.144 Gbps transceivers at an estimated 88 mW maximum power consumption per channel. |
Benefits
Do More with Less Power, Design Time, and Cost
Built on TSMC's 28 nm low-power (28LP) process technology, including an abundance of hard intellectual property (IP) blocks, allowing you to differentiate and do more.
Logic Integration and Differentiation Capabilities
It offers an 8-input adaptive logic module (ALM) and variable-precision digital signal processing (DSP) blocks, allowing up to 13.59 megabits (Mb) of embedded memory.
Increased bandwidth capacity
Use transceivers at up to 6.144 Gbps alongside hard memory controllers for high-bandwidth designs.

Common Questions
Choose Cyclone V GT when supported serial rates above Cyclone V GX's documented capability are required. Verify channel count and protocol support for the selected part.
Channel power covers part of the system. Total device power also includes logic, DSP, memory, I/O and operating activity.
Check buffering, clock-domain crossings, supply noise and channel margin. Compare controlled link tests with application traffic.
Use a supported controller when external-memory traffic and configuration fit the design. Budget arbitration and read/write bandwidth under peak load.
Supported CPRI configurations combine higher-rate serial connectivity with programmable processing. Confirm device grade, deterministic latency and synchronization requirements.
