Accelerating Innovators to Shape What’s Next in Quantum Computing

Altera is advancing the era of Quantum Computing with hardware and software solutions that enable precise, real-time qubit manipulation and adaptive feedback, enabling the scaling of lab prototypes to commercial platforms for powering breakthroughs in research, optimization, and quantum-enabled AI. Along with the ultra-low latency required for Qubit control and Quantum Error Correction to be useful, Altera FPGAs provide the reconfigurability to interface with classical computing and evolve with emerging quantum architectures for reliable, high-performance operation. 

Altera offers a range of FPGA-based solutions for quantum computing: 

  • Fully integrated solutions: Save Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) using Altera Direct RF-Series FPGAs and SoCs withfully integrated ADCs/DACs. 5x higher RF performance vs. competing integrated devices
  • Partially integrated solutions: Agilex portfolio of FPGAs and SoCs combined with third-party discrete ADCs/DACs available on industry-standard SoM form factors. 2x higher FPGA fabric performance per watt vs. competing FPGAs

Enable Deterministic, Real-time Qubit Control at Scale

Precise Qubit Control

Altera FPGAs deliver real-time, precise, and deterministic pulses with high-bit resolution to manipulate qubits, enabling reliable, synchronized operations across an RF-based controller.

Fast Qubit Readout

Altera FPGAs have high-frequency RF and high-bandwidth XCVRs to process qubit data in real-time, with low-latency, and accurate qubit state detection for immediate feedback and decision-making.

Quantum Error Correction

Altera FPGAs offer massively parallel data path pipelines (logic + DSP + memory), enabling real-time, deterministic functionality tuned for quantum error correction codes, on specialized hardware.

Hybrid Classical–Quantum Integration

Altera FPGAs improve throughput via high-speed interfaces to stream data between Quantum hardware and classical HPC infrastructure, using FPGA-based add-in cards, such as SmartNICs or DPUs.
