IP-Maker was founded in 2010 by high throughput bus experts. IP-Maker is a young and dynamic team of senior electronic engineers who will help your company leverage on the latest technological improvement and development in the area of memories (NAND Flash). Our team of highly-qualified engineers and project managers works in a very client-orientated manner focusing on fit-for-purpose solutions and controlled planning.

Typical storage controllers are composed of a communication interface and a Nandflash controller. In this case, all the data flow is managed by the external host processor. However, this architecture cannot sustain high performance applications. The IPM-NVMe_Device IP core designed by IP-Maker is a powerful data transfer manager integrated into the PCIe SSD Controller between the communication interface and the Nandflash controller, therefore off-loading the host CPU.

The IPM-NVMe_Host core is a verilog IP to be integrated in a FPGA or ASIC design. It fully manages the NVMe and PCIe protocol on the host side without requiring any CPU and any specific knowledge. It can be used with any NVMe SSD available on the market, or with a custom design based on the IPM-NVMe_Device IP from IP-Maker. The IPM-NVMe_Host is well suited for embedded applications requiring a high throughput storage such as recorder and video applications. 1+ million IOPS performance requires the use of an expensive CPU, which is not feasible in an embedded system due to cost, space and power limitation.

This architecture proposal is based on NVMe offloaded IPs. It is integrated in a FPGA and could be also be integrated in ASIC, allowing to provide design flexibility and the ability to add processing accelerator IPs, computational storage…. IPM-NVME2NVMe solution is the perfect base to add easily your own custom logic such as erasure coding and duplication, RAID system, encryption, compression…

It is integrated in a FPGA and could be also be integrated in ASIC, allowing to provide design flexibility and the ability to add processing accelerator IPs, computational storage…. IPM-SSD solution is the perfect base to create your own PCIe NVMe SSD.
